Have you recently replaced your old door and noticed that the part of your guttering above the door has started to sag?
All our customers have been in your shoes, do not worry.
As homeowners, we all get annoyed at the concept of something being broken and in need of repair, or even worse, a replacement. It can be a costly exercise, but your guttering is an integral role of your house, and replacing your guttering is not something that should be taken lightly. At Cliffside Windows we would recommend replacing your guttering every 20 years to retain their efficiency.
But how do you know if your gutters are bad and in need of a replacement? What are the most obvious signs?
Cracks, splits, and dents on your gutters
When it is time to clean your guttering – we would recommend that your gutters should be cleaned at least once or twice a year – take some time to look at your guttering. Has the typical British weather had a detrimental effect on your guttering, creating cracks? While smaller cracks may not appear as much, overtime these will soon spider out to create bigger cracks, creating bigger problems if not dealt with right away.
Leaking or peeling gutters
Have you noticed water falling from your guttering? Or have you noticed parts of your guttering peeling and falling off? It is a bit of a nuisance, isn’t it?
Peeling paint is more common on galvanised steel gutters as these are protected from water penetration by a special coating. When the paint starts to flake or peel, it is a sure sign that the years of rainfall has managed to get through to the metal. We would advise you check out for signs of rust and replace your guttering.
Sagging fascias
When you look at your house are your gutters sagging or pulling away from your fascias? This is a common problem caused by build-up of debris in the incorrect-sized gutter. Do not worry – this problem can be solved by replacing your guttering.
